HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - This is the inaugural flight for American Eagle into the Hattiesburg Laurel regional airport. The 50 passenger jet will travel to the Dallas/Ft Worth airport. The mayor of Laurel, Ellisville, Hattiesburg and Meridian met to show their support for the new economic booster.
Executive director of PIB Tom Heanue says, ”It's a great day here in the pine belt, we've just watched the eagle land as we like to say with American Eagle, the first inaugural flight today, and we're just excited about it. It's a really good service, the world's largest carrier, American to its largest hub, Dallas ft worth and out of there you can connect to anything in the world.”
“This is wonderful, we have an opportunity for the community to kind of step up and show how essential air is here in our community and that's why the mayor of laurel meridian Ellisville, we've have all banded together to show our support and to make sure we look first to PIB before we book anywhere else, says Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree. “ And so we're all committed to make sure we do everything we can to save the service here to Hattiesburg laurel area.”
