Friday night's game against Bassfield was one of the biggest East Marion senior Johnathan Abram has played in yet, and the team leader stepped up for the Eagles.
The recent University of Georgia commit plays quarterback and defensive back for East Marion. The senior scored three touchdowns in Friday's 24-20 win over the Yellow Jackets. "Having a guy like Johnathan who's a leader on and off the field, who's academically prepared to go to a division one school makes my job a whole lot easier. He's smart he thinks on his feet and like I said a great leader for our team on and off the field so it makes it a whole lot easier. Wish we had about 15-20 more just like him," East Marion head coach Kevin Jackson said Monday.
One of Abram's three scores put the Eagles ahead with just over a minute to play, and they never looked back. "I enjoyed every bit of it along with my teammates. We just wanted to go out there and get the job done. And that's what we did executed every play and gave 110 percent the whole game," Abram said.
With the win, Abram and the Eagles won district 7-2A and will face Scott Central in the first round of the playoffs on Friday.
