Joe's Viewpoint: A message to the elected

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

It is customary on this day, the day before an election, for us to remind everyone to exercise your right to vote. Today we are going to do something a bit different. We are going to direct our comments to those who, after tomorrow, will be the newly-elected. The voters will do their part by going to the polls and placing their trust once again in you and your publicly stated promises. As advocates for our community, we will be watching to be sure that you live up to those promises. We are putting you in a significant position to improve our communities. So, if you are successful tomorrow and win, remember your obligation to serve those who are relying on you to put the people of Mississippi first.

This is today's viewpoint.

Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
