Circuit clerks offices across the state were open for a half-day Saturday for people who waited to the last minute to vote absentee for next week's general election. Saturday was the last day for absentee voting in-person.
Circuit clerk's offices opened from 8 a.m. until noon.
Offices in Jones and Forrest counties were busy Saturday morning, with more than 60 absentee votes cast in Jones County alone. All tolled, Jones County has had more than 650 absentee ballots cast so far, while Forrest County reports more than 600 cast there.
The deadline for absentee votes sent by mail is 5 p.m. Monday.
And the deadline for absentee votes sent by military and overseas voters is 7 p.m. on election day.
