National Make a Difference Day at Southern Eye Center

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

It is National Make a Difference Day and Southern Eye Center donated the gift of sight to people who can't afford the procedure.

Ten people had their cataracts fixed today, free of charge.

The procedure typically takes about 5-10 minutes.

Dr. Kiper Nelson, surgeon at Southern Eye Center said, “We have really adopted this as one of our yearly kind of mission work here at Southern Eye Center and the partners at Southern Eye Center are really committed to serving our community, and so really we look at it instead of going to South America or doing cataracts there, we try to serve people here that need it.”

Southern Eye Center has participated in the national event for the past 15 years.
