HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Educators from around 40 school districts in the state and Louisiana were in Hattiesburg Wednesday for The Mississippi Leadership Symposium.
The symposium was put on by the Google for Education team. They showed how two school districts in Mississippi are applying Google's concepts, applications, and technology in the classroom. Topics included were understanding how to better implement technology initiatives into the curriculum and how to implement a successful device roll out, including device selection and professional development.
"Often time we hear districts say the main reason is student engagement, how do we get students more engaged," said James Leonard, Program Manager, Google for Education Team. "How do we start to prepare the students for for the jobs of 2032. Children currently in kindergarten are going to be graduating into the jobs of 2032 and what will those look like."
The Hattiesburg and Lamar County school districts are two of several in the state hosting the symposium.
