Red Ribbon Week teaches students to live drug free

Petal Primary School celebrates Red Ribbon Week to teach students about a drug free lifestyle.

The week's schedule includes a dress code for the students, with each article of clothing tied to a theme.

Monday: wear sunglasses ("too bright to wear drugs")

Tuesday: wear favorite team jersey ("let's team up against drugs")

Wednesday: wear silly socks ("sock it to drugs")

Thursday: wear caps ("put a cap on drugs")

Friday: wear a red shirt (in honor of Red Ribbon Week)

"Red Ribbon Week is when we discuss drug free awareness, to be able to encourage the kids as they grow up to say no to drugs," said Kim Patton, special education teacher.

After a week of special activities, the students will sign a pledge to remain drug free.
