ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Basketball season is right around the corner and today in Ellisville, the Jones County Lady Bobcats hosted their Media Day.

The defending MACJC state champions posed for pictures at A.B.Howardd Gymnasium ahead of their season opener on the road against Wallace State (Alabama), November 4 .

Head coach Sandra Sumrall said she's proud of the state title, but wants to see the women's program reach new heights.

"I'm looking for them to step up and they know how close we came to things last year after the state tournament and our vision is to take it even further," said Sumrall.

JCJC returns five sophomores from last season's team that finished with a 19-8 record. Guard Kadie Parker, is one of the five and said last year's accomplishments are motivation for the 2014-15 season.

"We won state and we have super high expectations this year. We want to make it to regionals, we want to make it to nationals," said Parker.

"We want that back-to-back state championship and I think the freshmen are feeding off of us a lot and what we want so, they kind of get the same mentality we're getting."

The Lady Bobcats home opener is November 10 vs. Alabama Southern Community College.
