Hattiesburg Arts Council gets grant from Miss. Arts Commission

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - For the second year, the Hattiesburg Arts Council has received a grant of nearly $15,000 from the Mississippi Arts Commission to help them promote the arts in the Hub City.

The program grant totaling $14,850 will be used for teachers, curriculum programs, guest artists and exhibits.

The Arts Council received an Arts Commission grant for the same amount last year.

"This is the second half of (the grant) and so, we did receive the same amount last year," said Rebekah Johnson, director of the Hattiesburg Arts Council. "And we're real excited about it, we can do so many things for our community," she said.

Johnson said the Arts Council will probably apply for a larger grant next year.
