Suspect pursued in Jones County manhunt now in custody

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Jones County Sheriff's Department caught a suspect who was pursued in a manhunt in Jones County Thursday.

Robert Jamone Ducksworth, a 20-year-old from Collins, was apprehended at Howard Industries for charges of capitol rape.

Jones County Sheriff's Department Investigators and Deputies went to Howard Industries Thursday morning to pick him up from work when he fled the scene.

Around 4 p.m. Ducksworth returned to work where he was then taken into custody.

At 9:45 a.m. the search continued in the Indian Springs/Longview/Paulding Road area of Jones County. Indian Springs road was closed near Longview Drive, and an airplane flew above the area looking for the suspect.

The active departments who participated in the manhunt included JCSD, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Laurel Police Department, and the Jones County Emergency Management who provided a command center.
