The Libertarian Party's candidate for president in 2012 spoke in Hattiesburg Tuesday night and called the upcoming midterm elections "a big yawn." Gary Johnson, who was also a former two-term Republican governer of New Mexico, spoke at the University Forum at Southern Miss.

He said the midterms are no more than a soda taste test and said the nation would be better served if Libertarians were included in national presidential debates.

"You've got Coke and you've got Pepsi debating over who tastes better," said Johnson. "Nothing is going to change, unless we really do get Libertarians on the debate stage. And I do think that Libertarians echo really the sentiment of America today, I really believe that," he said.

Johnson also spoke about his book, Seven Principles of Good Government.
