Fire destroys mobile home in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from the Jones County Fire Council

A fire in the Myrick community of Jones County destroyed a mobile home Monday night, October 20.

Just before 6 p.m., fire units from M&M, Powers, Glade, and Rustin Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to 276 Morris Bankston Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found the mobile home fully involved in flames.

Eli Rowell, the owner of the mobile home, said he and his wife Emma, and their three children had been away from the mobile home approximately 30 minutes, when they returned to find it on fire. They were in the process of moving, and there was no electricity to the mobile home.

The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation by the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

No one was injured during the fire and firefighters remained on scene for over an hour performing fire suppression and overhaul operations.
