Dog Park to be built in the heart of Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg residents have come together to form a group dedicated to bringing a dog park to the city. The "See Spot Run" Dog Park Board announced the kickoff of a public fundraising campaign to build a dog park in the heart of the city.

The park will be located on the corner of West Pine Street and Fourth Avenue in the heart of Hattiesburg.

Board President Carey Varnado said, “We need contributions from the public because we've had great results from a campaign that we've done with local businesses before this phase of the campaign. We've already gotten commitments for about half the money we need to build the dog park but we need people to step up.”

The park will cost an estimated $150,000; almost $70,000 has already been committed.

The park will be open to the general public. All donations toward the park are tax deductible and can be made to the Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation with “Dog Park” placed in the memo.  Checks can be mailed to: 1507 Hardy St. Suite 208. Hattiesburg, MS 39401.
