HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The seizure of more than 70 Australian Cattle Dogs in Picayune Monday has the PRC SPCA stretched to the limit and they are looking for help from the community.
Two-people were arrested in the seizure and are facing multiple charges of animal cruelty and neglect. The dogs were found left unattended in a home in deplorable conditions. Shelter leaders say most of the dogs require veterinary care and because of the number of them brought in the staff is having to work overtime to care for them..
Having brought in that many has put a financial strain on the shelter that they can not afford, so they are reaching out to community for donations to help cover the cost of caring for them. They have also reached out to other shelters who may be able to help relieve the burden on their facility.
Monetary donations can be made over the phone at 601-798-8000 or by mailing to P.O. Box 191, Picayune, Ms. 36466. Make checks payable to PRC SPCA.
