HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -  The Fieldhouse for the Homeless, a local non-profit organization, recently received a $28,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank. The funds will go towards operating expenses as well as to help fund the cost of a grant writer for the Fieldhouse. The money will also help with much needed improvements of their facility. Cynthia Young, one of the founders, says the grant was a blessing, coming at just the right time.

“Well the Fieldhouse is based on all volunteers, there's not one person that gets a salary, everything that's donated to the Fieldhouse goes directly to our clients and our overhead here at the Fieldhouse.” said Young, “We have a number of volunteers, we're strictly volunteer based and are people that just love the Lord and that are servant's of God and this gives us some stability in knowing that our overhead is going to be paid.”

The Fieldhouse for the Homeless is a day center with locker rooms, showers, computer services and laundry facilities. Since its inception, The Fieldhouse for the Homeless has helped more than 350 people get identification cards, more than 300 people find housing and 250 people find jobs.
