1 dead, 1 in custody after a fatal shooting in Laurel

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting at the Brown Circle Apartments in Laurel.

Police arrested the suspect they identified as Tong Paige, 22, who is allegedly involved in the shooting at a residence on South Walters Avenue along with critical evidence linked to the shooting.

According to officials a call was received about shots fired shortly after 5 p.m. in the apartment complex. According to Sgt. Michael Reaves when officers arrived, they found an unidentified male suffering from multiple gun shot wounds in the middle of the street. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Sgt. Reaves stated a weapon was recovered at the scene, but this early in the investigation it is unclear if it is the exact gun used in the crime. 

According to authorities, the suspect fled the scene after the shooting. The investigation is still ongoing and authorities ask for anyone with any information to contact Laurel Police.
