Pine Belt walks to end Alzheimer's Disease

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Wesley Medical Center had hundreds of people out Saturday morning for a good cause. 

Pine Belt residents walked three miles on the Wesley Medical Center track to end Alzheimer's Disease. Participants supported and helped the Alzheimer's Association raise money to provide care, support services and advancing critically-needed research for the disease. 

Several attendees spoke about their involvement with the disease and how it has taken a role on their lives on a first-hand basis.

    In an effort to get tornado victims back into their homes, volunteers with the Mennonite Disaster Service have helped build 12 houses. And today, Economy Supply honored them with a luncheon for their commitment to the community.  Roses Bar-B-Que and Catering was provided to the volunteers, which included ribs, chicken, potato salad, baked beans and even banana pudding for those craving something sweet.
