HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - With less than a month to go until the November general election, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Travis Childers was in Hattiesburg Friday campaigning.
He made a stop at Leatha's Barbecue on Highway 98 and met face-to-face with some local residents before having lunch.
But he's not sure yet who he'll face on Nov. 4th. That's in the hands of the Supreme Court.
They're set to rule on an appeal by Chris McDaniel, who lost an election challenge against Thad Cochran in circuit court.
"I certainly hope they will rule on the merits of that case and and so we can move on," Childers said. "But, I'm ready for November the 4th. I'm proud to be the Democratic nominee. I'm proud to be one of those people who has always enjoyed support, from not only my party, but independents and the other party as well. I've always had a broad support, and we expect to have it in this election as well," he said.
Childers also campaigned on the Gulf Coast Friday.
