LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Laurel will soon have a visitor's center located in the heart of the Laurel Central Business District Downtown. The welcome center will be located at 401 Central Avenue inside Rasberry Financial. The space is currently being used for several events, including last weekend's Loblolly Festival. The building is also the home of an original refurbished Lindsey Wagon.
“I wanted to donate space in this building to be a public use space a center for Laurel Main Street to use a resource a field office if you will,” said Jim Rasberry, owner of Rasberry Financial. “So that folks can still come into this office and feel like they're welcome and feel like they can get resources and information about the town that we all love and so that was just a natural progression for me.”
Board members of Laurel Main Street will meet next week to discuss finer details, but they expect the welcome center to be open before Christmas.
