A man died Monday night in the Friendship Community of Collins.
The Covington County Sheriff's Department was dispatched around 11:45 p.m. when a man was found laying in the road.
When the deputies arrived at the scene they found the body of a 36 year-old black male who was later identified as Elanda Shivers.
The caller told dispatch that he was headed to work and noticed someone laying in the road, but was unable to stop before he allegedly struck the body.
The case is still under investigation and the sheriff's department is waiting for autopsy reports.
