LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -  Six individuals have been arrested during a sweep by the Laurel Police Department's Narcotics Division.

The team served warrants for individuals charged with the selling of narcotics in the area on Oct. 1. The arrested are, Rasheem Jones, 31, Maurice Jones, 24, Gerald Collier, Jr., 31, Christopher Walker, 37, Felix White, 55, and Desmond Windham, 30.

Charges range from the sale of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, the sale of heroin and the conspiracy to commit a crime.

Sergeant Vince Williams from the Narcotics Team of the Laurel Police Department said they are not going to tolerate drugs being sold in the city.

“We take an area and investigate it and then once we get enough evidence and enough information to obtain warrants, we make arrests,” Williams said. “That's when we saturate the area and [are] able to conclude the investigation.”

Officers found a handgun and illegal prescription pills while serving a warrant.

All individuals are currently being housed in the Jones County Jail.
