HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

After Hattiesburg residents saw an interactive football fan map created by the New York Times stating a majority of Hattiesburg were LSU fans, Golden Eagle fans went quickly to social media to show their loyalty.

The New York Times updated their interactive map 24 hours after stating Hattiesburg residents preferred LSU, Facebook page likes now show that a majority of Hattiesburg residents always will cheer for the Golden Eagles, coming in 1st at 21 percent. MSU came in second at 17 percent, and now in third, LSU at 16 percent.

Friday morning the map showed that 18 percent of Hattiesburg football lovers were fans of LSU.

Disappointed by the map, fans took to social media to prove that Hattiesburg residents will always bleed black and gold.
