JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from the Jones County Fire Council

A two vehicle crash on Highway 184 East at Dixie Electric Power Association, Thursday night, October 2, destroyed both vehicles involved and left emergency first responders amazed that none of the six occupants of both vehicles were seriously injured.

Volunteer emergency medical responders and rescue units from Powers and Glade were dispatched to the accident at 5:52 p.m. Upon arrival the first responders reported that a Ford F-150 pickup, driven by an adult male, had collided with a Chevrolet Blazer SUV, driven by an adult male, with one adult female and three children as passengers.

The force of the impact spun the Ford F-150 completely around in the driveway of Dixie Electric, where it was exiting onto Highway 184. After colliding with the F-150, the Chevrolet Blazer left the roadway and struck a large oak tree head-on. All of the crash victims were able to self-extricate from their vehicles despite the extensive damage to both vehicles.

All victims were evaluated by EMServ ambulance service emergency medical team, along with volunteer emergency medical responders, and all declined transport to the hospital.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Also responding to the accident was Jones County Sheriff's Department.
