Laurel Police prepare for Night Out Against Crime

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The Laurel Police Department's annual National Night Out Against Crime is exactly a week away.

Mayor Johnny Magee signed a proclamation Tuesday declaring October 7 as Night Out Against Crime in the city.

The police department along with several organizations prepared for the event by filling up more than 400 backpacks. Along with school supplies, several prizes are expected to be given away during the event including a kindle, a bicycle and even cash.

Night Out Against Crime will take place at Mason Park in Laurel and will begin at 5 p.m.
