HPD Drug Dropoff Day

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Drug DropoffDay at the Hattiesburg Police department brought in about 200 pounds ofout-of-date and unwanted prescription drugs during the semi-annual event.

According toHPD spokesman Lt. Jon Traxler about 50 people brought in about 40 pounds worthof pills. A daughter of a pharmacist also dropped off about 160 pounds ofout-dated medicines that were still in bottles and packages. The previousevent, which occurred in April, brought in about 115 pounds of prescriptionmedications.

The drugs willbe disposed of by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency.
