Laurel man pleads not guilty in deadly hit and run

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - A Laurel man charged with second-degree murder for a 2013 hit and run accident can expect his trial early January.

Michael Dixon plead not guilty during his arraignment in court. Dixon is accused of running over Juan Nelson, who was found lying in the street at the intersection of East 1st and Pine Street last year in September.

Police said he intentionally hit the man with his car. Dixon had fled the scene but was found and arrested a few days later in Milwaukee.
