LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The Laurel Police Department, the Mississippi State Department of Health and Walgreen's teamed up to help save children's lives Saturday.
They hosted a car seat safety checkpoint at Walgreen's on 16th Ave.
Car seat safety technicians were on hand to show parents how to properly restrain children in safety seats.
And about 40 new seats were given to parents who could not afford them or who had older or worn out seats.
The event was held in recognition of National Child Passenger Safety Week.
