HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Historic Hattiesburg Neighborhood Assn. presented the Southern Miss Community Counseling and Assessment Clinic a $2,000 donation on Friday.
The money was raised during last April's annual Downtown Crawfish Jam and will be used to help pay fees and other costs for mental health services for people in the Hattiesburg area.
Counseling psychology students have volunteered in the past to help with the Kid Zone at the HHNA's annual Downtown Crawfish Jam.
"They're the ones that set up all the volunteers and set up the times, set up the activities," said Brian Saffle, coordinator for the Downtown Crawfish Jam. "Basically, we tell them where it's going to be and they take care of everything," he said.
"This donation will go a long way to offset the funds for clients who otherwise, wouldn't be able to afford the mental health services that they are really in need of," said David Gavel, president of Counseling Psychology Student Government.
The most recent Downtown Crawfish Jam was held last April.
