Trauma Conference presented by Crossroads Counseling Laurel

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from Crossroads Laurel

Crossroads counselors want to partner with you as caring professionals in the Jones County area to create a better understanding and response to trauma.

The event will be Tuesday October 7, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A complimentary lunch will be served. The event will be held at Studio 550 in Laurel.

Attendees will: Learn working definitions of trauma and PTSD Identify different types of trauma  Discover the pervasiveness of trauma in today's society  Explore how trauma impacts everyday life  Become alert as to how you as a caring professional can respond to the victims of trauma in helpful ways.

Presenters: Alexis Polles, MD has psychiatry for more than 25 years, is a Board Certified psychiatrist, a Diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Medicine, a Certified EMDR Consultant, an Accelerated Resolution Therapist, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, and a Certified Hope and Freedom Practitioner.  Dr. Polles now practices in Hattiesburg, Ms.

Stephanie Smith-Jefferson, LPC holds a Master's degree in Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling and a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary.  Mrs. Smith-Jefferson was the first Genetic Counselor in the State of Mississippi and now has practices professionally as an individual, marriage and family counselor at Crossroads Rankin in Pearl, Ms. She is EMDR Trauma Intervention trained.
