HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Dozens of Hattiesburg-area residents sampled food from some of the Hub City's finest restaurants Thursday to help the March of Dimes.
The 12th annual Pine Belt Signature Chefs Auction at The Venue downtown featured dishes from about a dozen local restaurants.
It also included a live and silent auction and live entertainment.
"We're raising money to fund research to cure and help with birth defects and pre-maturity and infant mortality, and that's what the March of Dimes is all about," said Karen Hunter, community director for the Mississippi Chapter of the March of Dimes.
"The March of Dimes is a huge, huge informational supporter of the nicu (neonatal intensive care units)," said Melissa Davis, ambassador mom for the March of Dimes-Pine Belt. "They also try to educate to-be mothers and fathers and families on pre-mature births," she said.
The event also offered 10 different live auction packages.
