JCJC’s Diakite named national soccer player of the week

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College soccer player Souleymane Diakite has been recognized nationally.

Diakite has been named the NJCAA Division I National Player of the Week for Sept. 8-14.

Diakite, a sophomore from Baker, Louisiana, had five goals and one assist as the Bobcats whipped Co-Lin, 7-1, on Sept. 12.

For the season, Diakite has been credited with 12 goals, which ties him for fourth in the nation. He has three assists to give him 27 points.

The Bobcats are 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the MACJC South Division. They travel to Poplarville for a key division game vs. Pearl River at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
