New splash pad at the Susan Vincent Sportsplex

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

A splash pad that is being built at the Susan Vincent Sportsplex near Laurel is almost complete.

The Pad was a community project organized by Leadership Jones County.

Money for the project was raised through a fundraising campaign earlier this year where the organization raised nearly $30,000.

All of the materials were donated by local businesses and the labor for the construction was donated by Jones County and the City of Laurel.

The site was chosen for its central location.

The splash pad will feature jets that shoot water into the air and is a modern twist on the familiar summer activity of running through sprinklers.

It is expected to be open by the last week of September.
