JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Mississippi Department of Mental Health wants Mississippians to help paint the state purple on September 20 in honor of Alzheimer's Action Day.
The Jones County TRIAD and S.A.L.T. (Seniors & Lawmen Working Together) Council got a head start and participated in the Paint It Purple event Tuesday. Members wore their purple and recognized the day outside of the Dr. B.E. Murph Center in Laurel to show their support for people with Alzheimer's disease.
According to DMH, currently more than 51,000 Mississippians live with Alzheimer's disease.
