Tylertown man charged with murder

A suspect charged in the shooting death of a Tylertown man is now facing a $585,000 bond.

Kendall Magee, 30, made his initial appearance before Municipal Judge Ryan Bruhl in Tylertown.  Magee was arrested and charged with murder in the August 31st shooting death of Tyriunce "ToTo" Lewis of Tylertown.

According to Walthall County Sheriff Duane Dillon, Magee allegedly shot Lewis with a .32 caliber handgun outside of the suspect's apartment in the Oak Hurst apartment complex in Tylertown. Lewis was airlifted to Forrest General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Family and friends said Lewis confronted Magee at his apartment after learning that his girlfriend still had contact with Magee, who is her ex boyfriend. Dillon said Lewis was shot in the head.

Lewis is the father of four young children and the brother of Mississippi State University football player Jameon Lewis. He was in Starkville the night before his death watching his brother play in the season opener against Southern Miss.

Lewis' cousin said he will be remembered for his caring heart and giving spirit.

Magee was previously charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
