Tylertown man charged with murder

TYLERTOWN,MS (WDAM) -

A suspect charged in the shooting death of a Tylertown man is nowfacing a $585,000 bond.

Kendall Magee, 30, made his initial appearance before MunicipalJudge Ryan Bruhl in Tylertown.  Magee was arrested and charged with murderin the August 31st shooting death of Tyriunce "ToTo" Lewisof Tylertown.

According to Walthall County Sheriff Duane Dillon, Magee allegedlyshot Lewis with a .32 caliber handgun outside of the suspect's apartment in theOak Hurst apartment complex in Tylertown. Lewis was airlifted to ForrestGeneral Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Family and friends said Lewis confronted Magee at his apartmentafter learning that his girlfriend still had contact with Magee, who is her exboyfriend. Dillon said Lewis was shot in the head.

Lewis is the father of four young children and the brother ofMississippi State University football player Jameon Lewis. He was in Starkvillethe night before his death watching his brother play in the season openeragainst Southern Miss.

Lewis' cousin said he will be remembered for his caring heart andgiving spirit.

Magee was previously charged with possession of a firearm by aconvicted felon.

    As a freshman quarterback playing behind one of the best athletes to come through Columbia Academy in recent years, Thomas Erastus “Ras” Pace got his first career start in what was arguably the Cougars’ biggest game of the 2016 season. “I thought I did a pretty good job handing the ball off,” said Pace of his starting debut in a second-round MAIS AAA playoff game in place of the inured Wiley Cleland.
