Hattiesburg kids enjoy breakfast with dads

Fathers of students that attend Hattiesburg Public Schools were invited to eat breakfast with their children Tuesday morning.

Fathers, grandfathers, and male role models enjoyed the meal with their kids. At Lillie Burney Elementary, a few words of advice and encouragement were offered, too.

"I encourage the fathers to teach their children to be obedient, to teach them how to work and how to respect other people," said Clemon Ector, Physical Education teacher at Lillie Burney.

Hawkins, Lillie Burney, Grace Christian, Rowan, Thames, and Woodley Elementary Schools each hosted a breakfast. N.R. Burger and Hattiesburg High School also participated.

As a freshman quarterback playing behind one of the best athletes to come through Columbia Academy in recent years, Thomas Erastus “Ras” Pace got his first career start in what was arguably the Cougars’ biggest game of the 2016 season. “I thought I did a pretty good job handing the ball off,” said Pace of his starting debut in a second-round MAIS AAA playoff game in place of the inured Wiley Cleland.
