HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Two Hattiesburg men have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a Thursday homicide.

Pedro Alvarez, 28, of Hattiesburg, and V'nell Miskell, 25, of Hattiesburg were taken into custody by authorities in connection with the death of Johnnie Cooper, 20.

Cooper was found in a ditch, submerged in water Thursday morning at the Timberton Softball complex near William Carey University.

Members of a Hattiesburg Parks and Recreation work crew spotted the body, and contacted police around 8:45 a.m.
