Hattiesburg company earns national recognition

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg company has earned national attention, being ranked as the fourth fastest growing manufacturing company by Inc. Magazine. It is the second fastest growing company in Mississippi.

Bio Soil Enhancers, Inc. manufactures SumaGrow, a soil amendment that improves soil health. Healthier soil results in a stronger root system and overall healthier plants. This increases crop yield while reducing the need for chemical fertilizers.

"We're working biologically to maintain the health and stability of the soil," said Knox Flowers, a SumaGrow environmental scientist.

The product is manufactured in Hattiesburg and then sent off to licensees for distribution. They use SumaGrow in their products and remarket it as their own.

"That's one way we've been able to grow and expand so quickly in so many countries," said Flowers.

SumaGrow is sold in over 40 countries and the company will continue to expand in the future.
