HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Before the Southern Miss/Alcorn St. football game in Hattiesburg Saturday, Golden Eagles and Braves supporters gathered for tailgating activities across the campus.
Folks could be seen cooling off by waving fans of different types. They also enjoyed cooking and eating hamburgers and other foods. Some danced, while others played various games.
"This is my first tailgating at Southern, I love it," said Curtis Michaels of Bassfield, whose son is a freshman receiver on the Southern Miss football team.
"Tailgating is always a big event for Southern students, everyone is really excited," said Phoenix Pope, a USM junior.
"Everybody is so nice and friendly and we're having a good time," said Angela Ransom, an Alcorn St. fan.
Saturday's game between USM and Alcorn St. was their second meeting on the gridiron.
