MOSELLE, MS (WDAM) - The reopening of Highway 11 in Moselle has been pushed back once again.
The road has been closed since early summer while a new bridge is constructed. The area of Highway 11 north of Ben Thompson Road was scheduled to reopen by the middle of July, however delays like weather and a necessary design change to the bridge have held up the project.
"A lot of the problems we had with that bridge, unexpected delays and unexpected problems that we're trying to find new solutions for them," said Tom King, Southern District Transportation Commissioner. "One of them being the piling had to be changed from concrete to steel and the other is the bridge had be resigned."
The new target date for reopening Highway 11 is around the first of October.
