AmeriCorps, Volunteer Hattiesburg planning 9/11 service projects

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Some AmeriCorps volunteers who've been working in Hattiesburg and the Volunteer Hattiesburg organization are hoping you will join them in a couple of community service projects next week that will show appreciation to Hub City first responders.

On Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., they're planning to wash police cars at the James St. Police Station.

And on Sept. 10, they'll be washing fire trucks at Station No.1 on N. Main St. From 4-6 p.m.

They'll also be setting up chairs, distributing programs and serving refreshments for a 9/11 memorial service on Thursday.

If you'd like to volunteer to help, send an e-mail to brian.paden@volunteerhattiesburg.org, go online to volunteerhattiesburg.org or go to facebook.com/NCCC River 4.
