MS Senate leader succumbs to cancer

Good Friday morning from MSNewsNow's Brandon Artiles!

We're starting the day at 75 degrees and it looks like a typical summer day is what's in store for us. Meteorologist Julia Weiden will hook us up with the Friday Nite Lites forecast to see how the weather will cooperate with tonight's high school football games. She'll lay it all out for us in her First Alert Forecast.

Happening now, state leaders and Terry Brown's family are mourning his death. The 64-year-old Mississippi Senate Pro Tempore lost his battle with cancer last night. We'll let you know how those who respected Senator Brown are remembering him this morning.

Plus, Jackson Police are on the hunt for men they suspect have been behind a series of armed robberies at Capital City convenience stores and gas stations.

And, in Election 2014 coverage State Senator Chris McDaniel is expected to make an announcement as early as today concerning his challenge of June's GOP U.S. Senate runoff, which he lost to Senator Thad Cochran.

All those stories and more are heading your way.

Please join Joy Redmond and me from 5 to 7 and have a great weekend!
