HENRYETTA, OK (KOKI/CNN) – Authorities have released the name of a wrong-way driver who gave a Labor Day scare to many motorists.

Police responded early Monday to a report of a man driving erratically and in the wrong direction on Interstate 40.

Cops caught up with Jesse Castillo, Jr., who had a passenger in his red pickup truck, but were unable to make him stop his vehicle.

When officers boxed Castillo in, he began ramming police cars.

Authorities say an officer opened fire on the suspect when he attempted to back over the officer.

Castillo was pronounced dead at the hospital. His female passenger was questioned by police and released.

No other drivers were harmed in the incident.
