Model contractor development program to kick off today in Gulfport

 Jackson, Miss. (September 2, 2014) – The Mississippi Development Authority kicks off its Model Contractor Development Program workshop series at 5:30 p.m. today, Sept. 2, at Roy Anderson Corp facility, located at 11400 Reichold Road in Gulfport, Miss.

The ten weekly workshops, designed to teach small contractors and businesses practices that will improve their company's operations and increase their bonding capacity, will be held each Tuesday evening through November 4.

The MCDP workshop series is free of charge and open to all small contractors and businesses, but participants must enroll or already be enrolled in the Mississippi Contractor Procurement Network system (www.mscpc.com) in order to attend. Additionally, each company's representative must agree to attend eight of the 10 sessions to successfully complete the course.

    The City of Hattiesburg warned its residents about an email scam making its rounds on Tuesday.  "Today, a Hattiesburg resident made city officials aware of an email scam regarding parking tickets," read the email from the city.  All tickets issued by Hattiesburg's Parking Division are paper and will not be delivered electronically, according to city clerk Kermas Eaton.
