Police confirm body found is Katelyn Beard

The search is over for the missing Mississippi 17-year-old at the center of the weekend Amber Alert.

Police confirm Katelyn Beard's body has been found.

Earlier, authorities called a coroner to Darden road, near the scene of a morning search.

For now, Dewayne Thompson is accused of wounding and kidnapping Katelyn Beard.

He was taken into custody on Monday, just a few blocks away from a home where police say the teen was shot Sunday morning.

For now he's only being charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, and auto theft.

Monday night, Thompson was seen leading officers around a field in the Pocahontas area.

Crews returned to that scene on Joe Coker road Tuesday morning.

Our reporter on the scene says, earlier, several bags and clothes were pulled out of the woods.

JPD confirmed to us they found her clothes in this search.

They were found on Lanewood drive in Madison County.

Beard was abducted Sunday morning between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. from 4244 Lynda Street in Jackson.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for Beard on Sunday night.
