Suspect identified in Smith County convenience store robbery

 From the Smith County Sheriff's Office:

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014, Smith County Sheriff's Office located the vehicle driven by the man suspected of robbing a convenience store located on the 1200 block of East Northeast Loop 323 Monday afternoon. 

The vehicle was located at a residence in the 3000 block of Frankston Highway. Smith County patrol deputies and detectives maintained surveillance at that residence for approximately 1.5 hours before arresting an individual leaving the residence on charges unrelated to the robbery. 

Additional information was gathered from that individual. An arrest warrant charging Alberto Aguilar with Robbery was issued by Judge Christi Kennedy of the 114th State District Court who set bond at $650,000. Aguilar's vehicle was seized by the Smith County Sheriff's Office to be processed once a search warrant has been issued.

Aguilar, age 30, is described as a Hispanic male, 5'10" tall and weighing 250 pounds, and was last seen wearing a tan hat, black short-sleeved shirt and blue jeans. He is known to frequent the area of Gentry Parkway and Highway 271 in the northeast portion of Smith County, as well as the area of Frankston Highway and Luther Street in the southwest portion of Tyler. 

If anyone sees Aguilar, please dial 911 or contact your local police department or sheriff's office immediately. The suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous.

At this time the investigation is ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available.
