If you see an unusual number of military and police officers in the Biloxi/Gulfport area this week, don't be alarmed. They're likely taking part in a joint military training exercise.
Biloxi and Gulfport police will be working with the military from Monday, September 1 until Friday, September 5. The training is designed to improve the U.S. military's ability to operate in unfamiliar, urban areas.
The training will be conducted during the day and at night by military personnel to prepare forces for upcoming overseas deployments, and meet mandatory training certification requirements.
All the training has been coordinated with local authorities and the owners of the training sites, and should have little impact on citizens' daily routines. The training is not open to the public.
