JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police need your help to find a woman who has been shot and the man they believe is responsible.

Authorities said when they responded to a shooting at 4244 Lynda Street Sunday just before 7a.m. Sunday they learned 17-year-old Katelyn Beard had been shot.

Evidence inside the home led them to this conclusion.

They are now searching for 19-year-old Dewayne Thompson, who they believe shot Beard, fled the scene and has Beard with him, according to a press release from Jackson Police.

Police said Beard is seriously injured and is in need of medical attention.

JPD Officer Colendula Green said authorities are looking for a gray or silver 2009 Nissan Altima with a Greene County license plate, number GRF293.

Both Thompson and Beard are believed to be in the vehicle.

Thompson is wanted for the charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping and auto theft.

Authorities said Thompson should be considered armed and dangerous.

If anyone has information on this vehicle or the whereabouts of both of the subjects, please call CrimeStoppers at (601) 355-TIPS or the Jackson Police Department at (601) 960-1234.
