More South Georgia Law Enforcers are participating in the ALS ice bucket challenge, including the Moultrie Police Department. They challenged the community to take the challenge.

Now that the Moultrie Police Department has completed their ice bucket challenge they want others to get involved.

"We actually have an area for you to complete the ALS challenge, and we're trying to raise as much money and as much awareness for the ALS Foundation,” said Cpl. Rocky Hancock.

The Moultrie Police Department teamed up with Home Depot, and now their employees are getting involved. They've been collaborating for a week to host the event in their parking lot.

Scott Carter- Home Depot Store Manager

"Home Depot has always been involved with kids and kids workshops,” said Scott Carter, Home Depot Store Manager. “This is definitely a good cause."

A mobile ice machine was on site to fill the buckets for the big challenge. The Colquitt County High School's 50th Regiment Band participated along side Home Depot employees to show support for their band director.

"Well our head band director, Mrs. Liz Savage, has a close family friend who lost their battle to the ALS disease,” said Delaysha Edwards, Colquitt County High School Student.

They also got a chance to dunk another band director into the "ALS Dunkin for Donations booth."

"Awesome, I mean how often do you get to dunk your band director in ice and water,” said Edwards. “It was pretty nice."

Students say it feels good to see a community come together, and raise awareness for a disease that affects so many people.

"It is heart warming seeing a community come together and do something like this," said Alyss Wise, Colquitt County High School Student.

The Moultrie Fire Department and the Colquitt County MADD Chapter were also present. Chick fil A and Coca-Cola also made donations to the Moultrie ALS Challenge.
