CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Clinton Police have identified the vehicle they say was used as a get-away vehicle Friday night, after two Mississippi College students were robbed at gunpoint.

Mark Jones, Director of Communications for the City of Clinton said the two female students were walking from their dorm to a nearby parking lot around 9:40 p.m. when they were approached by a black male.

Officials said the man took personal belongings of both women. The two students were able to escape without injury.

The suspect is described as a black male, age 20-25 and he was last seen wearing long khaki short pants, a white shirt and a dark colored ball cap.

Friday night the suspect was seen on foot traveling toward Hwy. 80.

Jones said around 9:50 p.m. suspects pulled into the parking lot of Murphy's Express, located at 2709 Greenway Drive in Jackson in front of the Wal-Mart.

The suspects attempted to use a stolen credit/debit card at the gas station and attempted to withdraw money from an ATM in the parking lot of the gas station.

The vehicle is described as a small dark metallic red 4-door sedan with damage to the right front fender.

School just stated last week, but officials said this is a harsh reminder to remain vigilant at all times.

"If something doesn't look right, trust your institution, take steps to correct the problem if you're feel like your being followed go to Police safety, call 911 let somebody know," said Clinton PD Detective Warren Sullivan.

"I can only imagine what's going through their mind right now. So I can only assume that it would be kind of a shock to them especially, because you think this would be the last place that someone would try to rob another person," said MC freshman Austin Huggins.

Following the robbery the college campus was placed on lock down, according to Tracey Harrison, Director of Public Relations for Mississippi College.

Mississippi College officials said an armed robbery on the Clinton campus is rare.

If you have any information, pleas call the Clinton Police Department at (61) 924-5252 or CrimeStoppers at (601) 355-TIPS.
