Reward offered for information on Walthall County beating

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Family of a Marion County man who was brutally beaten in Walthall County Saturday is offering a reward for information.

Any information about the attackers that could lead to arrests should be sent to authorities.

Foxworth resident, Jonathan Gibson, 21, attended a party in Walthall County that had more than 200 people in attendance.

Gibson said he was minding his own business when someone punched him in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

According to Gibson, he was then jumped by at least four people who started to beat him in the face with their fists.

"I'd go to get up and they would hit me again and eventually, I don't know how long I was there, but there was this giant circle around me and then two of my buddies, they were like stop, stop get [off] of him and then went through the crowd and when they did, they managed to get to me," Gibson said.

"A guy hit me again and then told my buddy to grab me," Gibson said.

Walthall County Investigators have interviewed some witnesses, but they have not yet been able to get any information on the identity of the attackers.

Gibson's mother, Janie McKensie, said she knows there are people out there who know who the attackers are, and she can understand why they are afraid to come forward.

McKensie is offering a reward for information that will lead to an arrest.

Mckensie said, "[I] really want these people to be stopped. I have also heard that these people have done this to several other people. What they do is they go to different parties, they pick out a person and hit them from behind, knock them down and then they all join in."

A PayPal account has been set up to help with Gibson's medical expenses. To donate to the fund, please click here.
